Shame
-->
Once we shared the same field
Not always playing by the rulebook
Annoying the other and getting riled.
But I cry today, Oh Mother!
What happened to us- your children?
I could shout out proudly
Yes! fiercely even;
I could beat my chest and declare--
I come from the land of
Brave and the diverse
Where equality before law
Was more than just a cliché.
Sometimes we were insipid
But, your arms were open
We shared you love blessedly
I cry today, Oh Mother!
What happened to us- your children?
For I woke up today morning
And found blood on my hands
My voice was gagged by shame.
For today we are not equal
And I failed my brothers
Without us together, Oh Mother!
I cannot even recognize you any more.
