An ageist song
How old am I?
Colors all around me
As far as I can see,
The green leaves twirling,
Drops of pearly water on petals rolling
Azure skies briefly hidden by white clouds drifting,
Sparkling stars engaged in a bewildering
brawl.
Don’t laugh at my
silliness
You know how old I am.
How old am I?
Poison all around me
For as long as I can see,
Pollution of everything in
the name of the right,
In words, ideas, technology,
sounds and sight.
Now living in a sullen climate --
with every unpleasant truth conveniently replaced.
Don’t laugh at my
self-righteousness,
You know how old I
am.
